| | Empowerment, Sexuality and Gender short course, 17-21 January 2005 | | 10:52' AM - Friday, 08/07/2005 | | Participants in the workshop on Empowerment, Sexuality and Gender in research, obtain critical and analytical views of gender and sexuality, and develop unique research questions while learning appropriate data collection, analysis and interpretation methods.
The course was conducted by Prof. Lenore Manderson, ARC Federation Fellow, School of Population Health, The University of Melbourne. Various teaching methods were employed in the course ranging from: concepts, discussions on gender, SRH rights, video shows on gender equality, gender based violence, abortion and sex work seen through the lens of gender. Both participants and the lecturer enjoyed open discussions around gender-based differences in social power and economics, and how these differences effect concepts and practices of sex and sexuality in different settings. The discussion and role-plays helped participants improve their analytical and presentation skills.
